Daily Life in Israel

Perhaps no piece of land has ever had more blood spilled over its control than the territory that today comprises the state of Israel. Even today the situation in the Middle East is seen as a hot topic, with passionate debate on both sides of the conflict fills newspapers, television shows, and weblogs aruging over the political question of who should get the land and who should control the holy sites in Jerusalem and throughout the state. Terrorist groups have capitalized on the furor to initiate attacks against the civilians of Israel through rockets, gunfire, and most notriously suicide bombings. This site seeks to explore the daily life and the impact on the ground of terrorism in Israel, while providing some background context to the reader as to what the issues are and the characteristics of the groups and organizations involved. Although it is impossible to discuss Israel and the Middle East without delving into the political issues, the goal of this site is to humanize the victims of terror, and to make plain that the violence against civilians is not the means to a lasting peaceful resolution to the conflict. Hopefully my site will give you an understanding of the nature of the conflict through the eyes of the average citizen, rather than through the broad spectrum of the geopolitical issues emanating from the global media.
