Minor League Ballplayers
My site focuses on the tough lives of people involved in Minor League Baseball. It gives the viewer some backround on the minor leagues by providing History and Leagues pages, but the main purpose is to show the struggles of minor league players, umpires, and families. Although the skill difference from the Minor Leagues to the Major Leagues is not all that different, the life style certaintly is. Minor league players are paid extremely low wages compared to those of Major League players and even other normal Americans. Even the most touted minor league players are lucky if they make $30,000 a year. The vast majority of players and umpires make less that $20,000 a year, with many hovering around the $10,000 a year mark. Most players are forced to find alterate occupations in the off-season just to put food on the table. But not only is it a tough life during the playing days, but after as well. Most players do not have college educations, therefore it is hard to get a job that allows them to sustain a carreer . But not only is there information about the players on this site. It also covers the hardships of umpires and the players families, as well as provides a tribute the famous minor league movie "Bull Durham"

Although Minor League ball players may not be the first people you think about when discussing low wage life, they certaintly fit into the category. Please browse my site to find out more.--Geno Fata

One of the things that stands out to me when reading this site on Minor League Baseball players is the tremendous amount of information on the personal life of the players. The site is not simply charts and statistics, but the reader actually gets drawn into the life of the minor leaguer making the topic a much more personal one. From the long day a minor leaguer must put on to the tremendous strain the season places on a players family. There are many aspects of the job that make it difficult other than just the low pay the players must live off of and some even provide for their families with.
I thought this sight was especially noteworthy because it provides a completely comprehensive look into minor league baseball, with every fact anyone could ever want to know. I liked how it gave a look into the daily life of a minor league player, with specific descriptions of what is going on around the clock. Also, I appreciated that there was a page defining each type of league, so that viewers with little to no knowledge of the sport can understand what the site is describing. This knowledge also makes the other pages more applicable, since there is at least some background knowledge to begin with.
If I had another quarter to work on my site I would do a few things. First of all I would add on the the information. I would add different pages, like one on the ball park workers, the facilities at the ball parks, and get more in depth on housing for the players. I would also add a comments page where I could get feedback, and hopefully a message board where people could go to talk about their views on minor league baseball. I would try to make the design a bit more exciting, adding some more color change and some animated objects. An idea I have just picked up by observing others sites is making an artistic intro sequence or page in order to get the viewer a little more aquainted with my site.
The class I would take in order to advance my work would be a pyschology class. This way I could add information about the physcological effects of playing in the minor leagues, and also how the minor leagues effect the coaches, umpires, workers, and families. I could even make a whole new page focusing the physchological aspects of Minor League baseball, as the information I could present would be immense.
